Show Me the Numbers
It’s not that easy to make numbers look interesting; but it’s crucial to keep your website visitors from glazing over and clicking out while showing them all the wonderful work you do. Then there is the question of what kinds of numbers should be shown? Should those numbers reflect demographics of the people you are helping (yes if one of your main goals is to educate visitors about the community problem or need) or showcase your nonprofits’ financial stability (yes if you main goal is to build credibility in the eyes of your supporters) or maybe highlight specific program accomplishments (to show visitors the direct results of their contributions). If we are talking about main page real estate, those numbers will have to be eye-catching and not take up a whole lot of space. I’ve compiled some examples to give you some ideas of how other nonprofit organizations are using space on their home pages to show their numbers – in a compelling and visual way.
