Website Options
So it’s getting close to that time when you have to start planning your annual Winter or Spring event and I know you will want to have your event information up on your website..

at the same time your registration brochure goes out – about 2-3 months prior to your event date. You have several options when it comes time to promote the event.

1. You can slap up a paragraph about the event and link to a pdf registration form and maybe place a link to it on the main page of your site.

2. You can create a section within your site (in the same style of your current site) that has its own submenu system directing people to find out more about the event, see the program details, view photos of last year’s event and register online.

3. You can direct people to a separate event site with its own domain name i.e. www.walkforindependence.org. You can then create a banner or slide on your main site’s main page and direct people to a more memorable location for your event site. The separate site also gives you ultimate flexibility with your content and other great benefits.

Great Benefits

1. The event can have its own branding with a site design specific to your event theme/topic – this is perfect for your signature event which needs to stand out from a crowded arena of golf tournaments, walk-athons and awards dinners.

2. You have greater flexibility with content and plenty of room to expand without interfering with your website content. You can include entire sections for sponsors, attendees & teams, committee members, making it easier for website visitors to navigate to where they need to go and to ultimately register. You also have the flexibility to leave the site up year-round (highly recommended) to maintain your event’s visibility and updating it regularly with news of next year’s happenings, and reports and photos on the previous event.

3. You can increase the value of your sponsorship packages by allowing sponsor logos to be parked front and center (you may not have that option on your regular site) AND have them parked for a specific period of time; sponsors will love this opportunity to have the extra exposure – especially if the site stays updated and you regularly draw people to it through your enews announcements.

4. You will be able to optimize for search engines far more efficiently with a separate site and greatly improve your search rankings for the event. This gives you an additional opportunity to draw people to the event site that are not normally on your radar (or mailing list) to attend the event, sponsor the event or volunteer.
